Fracture of the radial head: what management for the elbow?

What kind of elbow rehabilitation is needed after a radial head fracture? David Touré, osteopath D.O and Allyane practitioner, looks at the possible management of this pathology, thanks in particular to the Allyane neuromotor reprogramming method.

Aims of the treatment

There is a relative diversity of types of radial head injury (displaced or non-displaced fracture, associated ligament damage, etc.). There are therefore differences in the treatment offered to you. Thus, their main objective will be as follows:

To recover a stable, painless and mobile joint and avoid stiffening of the elbow at all costs, the treatment must allow early mobilisation and rehabilitation (if patients can tolerate it).

Elbow rehabilitation & Allyane method

Allyane complements the work done with your physiotherapist during this elbow rehabilitation after radial head fracture.

Specific Allyane sessions are integrated into the ongoing rehabilitation program. They help to limit loss of joint amplitude, particularly in elbow extension (flessums) and supination. They also reduce the loss of strength in the upper limb. This has a direct impact on improving fluidity of movement, and an indirect one on reducing compensatory phenomena (such as tendinopathy, contractures, trapezalgia, posture, etc.).

It is important to note that the gains observed during elbow rehabilitation are a function of certain "mechanical" limiting factors such as capsular stiffening, or stoppers caused by poor bone consolidation.
